AEPi wins national title as top chapter

Alpha Epsilon Pi at the University of Maryland became the first chapter in the traditionally Jewish fraternity to be nominated and awarded the highest North-American Interfraternity Conference award for an outstanding individual fraternity. Over spring break, the Delta Deuteron chapter earned the Award of Distinction, known as "The Golden Chapter Award," after being nominated by its national office Feb.

JSU finds contested elections for key spots

The Jewish Student Union elections have always been a mild affair. Amid the loud campaigning for Student Government Association, JSU candidates have usually gone uncontested as current members try to move up in rank. Until this year. With two candidates running for the highest position of president, Josh Swanner, a junior government and politics and Jewish studies double major, and Melissa Waksman, a sophomore family science major, the campaigning has become more controversial and political than usual and probably will continue until elections are held April 12.

Service day draws record crowd

In an act of selflessness, students from Hillel paired up with Terp Service Weekend on April 6 to perform various mitzvot for the community on Maryland Mitzvah Day. The event, formerly known as Service Day, was hosted by Tzedek Hillel and turned into a more large-scale affair this year.

Fresh Chabad events target women

Chava Backman and her husband Rabbi Pinny Backman, this year's newest addition to the Chabad house, have launched many programs specifically geared toward women in their overall effort to help create more on-campus programming for students. The motivation behind these events is to bring women together to bond in a shared activity.
