The "Matchmaking Crisis": defining modern-day dowry

In a desperate attempt to solve the "'Shidduch' (Matchmaking) Crisis", 2 organizations have offered $2500 to anyone who sets up a girl from Baltimore or Chicago over the age of 21. The reward is thought to encourage friends of these girls to put in an extra effort to try and have these girls married off as quickly as possible.
Trying to balance my identity with my new religion

My teenage years were tumultuous for the most part. My father committed suicide when I was 13, I "came out" at 15, and my relationship with my mother was uneasy, mostly attributable to her addiction to prescription pills. After many battles with my mother, we agreed that it would be best if I moved away from home.

I am really looking forward to addressing issues that face students on this campus and those that face Jews uniquely. A few evenings ago, I sat amongst a crowd of students in Hillel's multipurpose room, watching a film about a 22-year-old hero. Sniffles could be heard throughout the dark hall as Michael Levin's story was told by his family, comrades-in-arms, and friends.

The last time I saw my friend Mike, we sat up on the roof of his apartment building overlooking the stout, square buildings of Jerusalem, tossing a Frisbee and listening to Phish, and planned the party we'd have up on his roof when he came home from Lebanon in a week or so.

In observing Yom Hashoah, I was reminded of a few important aspects of life I wish to forget. I was again reminded of the terrible cruelty of which humans are capable. Now don't get me wrong, I get along well with people and am actually a friendly person.
